Tips for Article Promotion

Now that your manuscript has been accepted, ANESTHESIOLOGY encourages you to share you accepted work with the scientific community to stimulate engagement. Not only does this help foster discussion, but it can also help enhance the reach and impact of your research, increase citations, build your reputation, and promote your research.

Here are some guidelines on promoting your work once it has been published. Please note that all content published in ANESTHESIOLOGY is embargoed until it has been published online first (publish ahead of print). ANESTHESIOLOGY staff send out communications to authors when their article is published online.

Promotional ideas include:
  • Add a citation to the work in your departmental and/or institutional website or newsletter.
  • Share on social media platforms (Twitter or Facebook)
  • Include a recommended Tweet during the submission process and your Twitter handle so the ANESTHESIOLOGY social media team can engage with you
  • Email individuals that have been referenced in the article, and key colleagues, and include a link to the paper and/or a pdf reprint once it is published
  • If there is a Visual Abstract associated with your article, include that in your emails and Tweets.
  • Use Visual Abstracts and article title boxes together in your lectures and presentations
  • Update your professional profile with a link to the published article
  • Highlight the paper at conferences and share copies with colleagues
