29th Annual Anesthesiology Journal Symposium

Initial Results of Clinical Trials

29th Annual Anesthesiology Journal Symposium:
Hemodynamics 2020

2020 American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting October 3-7, 2020, Washington, DC

The modus operandi for anesthesiologists is to maintain hemodynamic stability. However, what this means clinically is far more complex as perioperative therapeutic goals of cardiovascular management, the complexity of patients, and growing knowledge, research, and monitoring techniques continue to evolve in our clinical practice.

The 2020 Anesthesiology Journal Symposium will feature plenary lectures by invited experts to address such questions as:

  1. What are our hemodynamic goals and supporting data?
  2. What have we learned from perioperative clinical trials?
  3. What cardiovascular monitoring should I use?

Lectures will be followed by oral presentations of 12 abstracts selected for their relevance to the symposium topic. Anesthesiology invites research abstracts and full-length articles related to the theme of its Annual Journal Symposium at ANESTHESIOLOGY®2020: Hemodynamics.

The top 12 abstracts will be presented orally during the live Symposium and authors will be offered an opportunity to submit their full manuscripts to Anesthesiology for inclusion in an issue to be published in the spring of 2021. All abstract submissions must meet deadlines and guidelines set by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. The authors of abstracts selected for the symposium will be offered an opportunity to submit their full manuscripts to Anesthesiology for inclusion in an issue to be published in the spring of 2020. Submitting a paper does not require attending the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2020 meeting.

The Journal is inviting full-length article submissions related to the topic. Articles must meet Journal submission guidelines. Article submission deadline is August 1, 2020.

Anesthesiology 2020 ASA Annual Meeting Announcement and Call for Manuscripts

Anesthesiology is sponsoring a Major Clinical Trials Session at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).  The purpose is to provide a high-profile venue for initial presentation of major randomized clinical trial results to a large audience. The session is designed for substantial clinical trials with clinically important primary outcomes. Presentations must be based on research that has been accepted for publication. Research selected for the Trials Session will also be featured in ASA press releases. Presentation at the Major Clinical Trials Session is restricted to results that have not been presented anywhere outside the authors home institution(s). All results presented in the Trials Session will be based on manuscripts that have been accepted for publication in Anesthesiology, or in select major multi-specialty journals (e.g. Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Nature, BMJ, etc). Publication in Anesthesiology online will coincide with the Annual Meeting. Presentation of research to be published in Anesthesiology or select major multi-specialty journals in dates with proximity to the ASA Annual Meeting will also be considered, on a case by case basis. Anesthesiology encourages investigators to take advantage of the Journal’s Major Clinical Trials Session, a high-profile forum for presentation of substantial clinical trial results. Manuscripts for presentation at the Trials Session will be selected by the editorial Board of Anesthesiology. Submission deadline is July 1, 2020. Manuscripts for Anesthesiology should be submitted electronically via the Journal's online submission system.

Please identify your submission as a candidate for the 2020 ASA Clinical Trials session.
