I just finished my worst day ever on labor and delivery. I was confronted with four critically ill parturients at various stages of delivery, all of whom required quick decisions as well as effective team leadership for an optimal outcome. I am happy to report that ultimately everyone did well that day as I left the labor floor exhausted. However, I must admit that this “bad” day did not occur in my hospital, but rather in a simulation center with an extremely realistic labor floor.
