The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) is seeking diplomates to assist with its future APPLIED Examinations, which will include the traditional Structured Oral Examination (SOE) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) component. ABA examiners help establish and demonstrate the highest standards for board certification through their service. During each exam week, the examiners receive continuing medical education (CME) credit that they may report to the American Medical Association for its Physician’s Recognition Award.

As part of the transition to the new staged examinations process, the current Part 2 Examination will become the APPLIED Examination in 2017, at which point the board will add the OSCE component. The ABA is seeking examiners for both of the SOE and OSCE components. All APPLIED Examinations will be administered in the ABA’s new assessment center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
