In my last year of residency, I realized that I didn’t know much about the American Society of Anesthesiologists aside from the annual meeting it hosts and the scientific publications it supports. I knew residents, junior to me in my program, who were participating as delegates to the Resident Component of ASA and getting involved with the Wisconsin Society of Anesthesiologists (WSA). It really made me wonder: Was I the only one who didn’t know about the opportunities available to residents with an interest in organized medicine?
