The process of educating future anesthesiologists has become multifactorial over the past several years. Our roles as practicing anesthesiologists as we facilitate the development of future anesthesiologist cover the spectrum: from teaching in the O.R., educating in the classroom, encouraging innovation in research, and expanding the knowledge base as residents and junior faculty strive to serve as advocates for their patients. The ASA Mentoring Program has been an instrumental component in that process of ensuring that we provide future anesthesiologists the necessary tools to develop their full potential. This year, the ASA Committee on Professional Diversity Mentoring Program has selected three outstanding individuals as recipients of the ASA Mentoring Program Award. In this article, we would like to highlight the projects and experiences of two of our recipients and their mentors.
