The action of leading a group of people or an organization.

This dictionary definition of leadership is actually quite unfulfilling since the word “leading” is in the definition itself. If you ask a group of individuals, “What is leadership?” you will probably get a wide variety of definitions. They will usually describe traits of those they view as successful leaders. Very few physicians would say that we went through our educational pathway to become a leader. Although most physicians are viewed as leaders, learning how to become a leader is not a typical part of our training.
