I finished writing this article with a bittersweet sentiment. Having completed anesthesiology (and fellowship) training has given me the time to reflect and look back at my years as a trainee across two major academic centers in large metropolitan areas. The first thing that comes to mind is my deepest appreciation for my mentors. Not only for teaching me the technical aspects of our field, but for taking the time to help me grow both personally and as a professional.
