Anesthesiology centers around the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of complications centered around injury. Whereas most research to advance medical care in our specialty focuses on the injury of surgery, anesthesiologists also apply these concepts to research after traumatic injury. Here are but three examples of FAER-funded investigators embarking on careers to advance the practice of medicine in this area.

Jacob Sunshine, M.D., currently funded under a FAER Mentored Research Training Grant (MRTG), studies prevention of mortality from trauma.
