When I think about sustainability at FAER, I think about three pillars. First, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, which has steadfastly supported research in the specialty through its creation and subsequent support of FAER. Second, the Society for Anesthesia Education and Research (SAER) by which academic departments and private practice groups support FAER through annual memberships in the society. And third, the topic of this article, the generosity of individuals who have made gifts that will ensure our future. These individuals are members of the FAER Legacy Society. Founded in 2014, the Legacy Society was established to recognize individuals making planned and estate gifts to FAER. Making an estate gift is the process of integrating your personal, financial, and estate planning goals with your goals of charitable giving.
