This year we are introducing a new honor – The ASA-SEA Distinguished Educator Award. It is designed to recognize anesthesiologist educators in mid-career as a way of saying thank you for all they do for the profession, and for both ASA and SEA. It will also prove useful for those seeking promotion to associate professor.

A little over a year ago, Michael Sandison, M.D., President of the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA), was approached by Beverly Philip, M.D., FASA, ASA Vice President for Scientific Affairs, with a nascent idea – a designation recognizing master anesthesiology educators, co-sponsored by the two societies.
