Greetings, and welcome to the inaugural column of a recurring feature in the ASA Monitor. First, a crucial disclaimer: I (ZD) am not a Resident Expert, but instead a humble Master of Ceremonies who will provide access to clinicians and scientists across anesthesiology (and other fields of medicine). I will conduct print interviews with learned individuals, tap into their knowledge, and answer important questions relevant to anesthesia practice across the U.S. (and the world). Each column will have a specific area of interest (e.g., cardiac, regional, pediatric, practice management, medical ethics).

To aid in this endeavor, I solicit all readers and ASA members – please send me questions you want answered or clinical conundrums you face. For example:

“Are PA catheters still indicated in cardiac surgery? If so, which procedures, which patients?”
