The Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM) includes four organizations: the Association of Academic Anesthesia Chairs (AAAC), the Association of Anesthesiology Core Program Directors (AACPD), the Association of Anesthesiology Subspecialty Program Directors (AASPD), and the Association of Anesthesiology Program Administrators and Educators (AAPAE). Together, SAAAPM has more than 1,000 members, representing over 130 academic anesthesia programs. Although the component organizations each have their own unique goals, they function together to fulfill the overall vision of being “the academic anesthesiology society that effectively represents, advocates, and educates around issues pertinent to academic anesthesiology with the purpose of enhancing academic anesthesiology, education, research, and quality clinical care.”
