Did you ever wonder what the Committee on Global Humanitarian Outreach (GHO) does? We have many ongoing projects and activities – here are some of them!
Although COVID-19 has forced all of us to re-evaluate our educational programs and our interactions with others, we are slowly restarting our outreach and educational efforts. We are pleased to report that in March 2022, three of our Resident International Anesthesia Scholarship (RIAS) recipients for 2021-2022 were able to travel. As of the writing of this report, Mi Mi Kim, MD, MPH, is in Botswana working with Edward C. Clune, MD; Stephen Ellwood, MD, is in Kenya working with GHO member Matt Kynes, MD, and the newly started anesthesiology residency at AIC Kijabe Hospital and Cure International; and Ben Abney, MD, MBA, is in Mbale, Uganda with GHO member Dr. Colby Simmons (former 2016-2017 RIAS recipient).
