It is October – a time of new beginnings and of transition. The start of another school year, and fresh hopes for our home football teams, while another baseball season draws to its climactic conclusion. It is also time for ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2023, certain to be another great one. The annual meeting is when the anesthesiology community comes together to share the latest science, to learn and network, to debate the issues facing the specialty, to celebrate our progress, and look to the future. It also marks the end of one governance year and the beginning of the next. The gavel (or baton) of leadership gets passed to a new ASA President and new leaders assume their roles on our administrative council, board, house, and committees.
