Pa^O2/Fi^O2is a respiratory index. Preanesthetic values were obtained before induction of anesthesia. Recovery values were obtained 1 h after extubation while patients breathed 40% oxygen. Postoperative values were obtained approximately 24 h after surgery while patients breathed room air. Data are presented as means ± SDs.
