Astrocytes were incubated at 28, 33, or 37°C with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BOOH; 1 mm) or aqueous vehicle for 30 min. They were then incubated with propofol (1 μm) or Intralipid vehicle for another 30 min. Finally, the rate of glutamate uptake was measured (100 μm, 1 min) at 37°C.
