‡ Mild ascending aorta atherosclerosis refers to intimal thickening < 3.0 mm without intimal irregularities, moderate and severe refers to intimal thickening ≥ 3.0 mm or diffuse irregularities or with large mobile or protruding atheromata, ulcerated plaques, or thrombi, respectively.
