To minimize the influence of variation in basal muscimol-induced Cl sup - conductances, all the cells were first exposed to 10 micro Meter muscimol, making a normalization of the subsequent currents toward this concentration possible for every individual cell. The cells were then exposed to concentrations of muscimol varying between 0 and 30 micro Meter with and without N2O. Because of technical limitations, every cell was used for one muscimol concentration only. A significant increase between 30 and 50% could be observed but only when N2O was combined with muscimol. Each point represents the average value of 6, 8, 15, 6, and 7 cells for concentrations of muscimol of 0 to 30 micro Meter, respectively. Bars represent SEM of these values.
