Instructions:  Find the Procedural Severity Score for mortality (PSS mortality) in Supplemental Digital Content 1 for the patient's primary CPT code. Locate this score on the axis labeled “PSS-Mortality” by interpolating between the displayed values, and draw a vertical line up to the “Points” axis to find the points toward 30-day mortality associated with the patient's procedure. Repeat this process for age and ASA Physical Status and add the three resulting point values to obtain the patient's total points. Locate this number on the “Total Points” axis (shaded region ) and then draw a vertical line to the axis labeled “Predicted Probability of 30-Day Mortality (%).” This value represents the prediction for the patient.
