Experimental protocol: animals were randomly assigned to the four study groups: control (s-ketamine), isoflurane, xenon, and sham. After instrumentation on day 0, (first OP) the rats were subjected to 60 minutes of myocardial ischemia and 120 minutes of reperfusion. After a follow-up of 28 days, conductance catheter measurements were performed following additional instrumentation (second OP). The arrows mark the measurement time points (T0–T4). Echocardiograms (echo) were acquired at TO, T3, and T4 and pressure volume loops (PV) at T4.
