Concentrations of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and serum complement 3a (C3a) and C-reactive protein (CRP). The concentrations of BALF and serum C3a and CRP in individual patients were measured. Data are expressed as the median, interquartile range, and range or mean ± SD of each group (n = 25). There were no statistically significant differences in the levels of BALF and serum C3a and CRP between the two groups of patients at T1 and T2. The levels of C3a and CRP in the carbon dioxide group from T3–T5 were lower than those in the air group.
